Review: Best Rechargeable Batteries - Worth Every Penny! - After years of buying disposable batteries and constantly running out at the worst possible times, I finally made the switch to these Panasonic eneloop rechargeable batteries and I genuinely wish I had done this sooner. This 12-pack of AAA batteries has been an absolute game-changer for my household, and I want to share my detailed experience with anyone considering making the switch to rechargeable batteries. The first thing that impressed me was the packaging and presentation. The batteries arrived well-protected and each one came pre-charged, which was a pleasant surprise. I could use them right out of the box without waiting for an initial charge. This might seem like a small detail, but when you're excited to start using a new product, it's really nice not to have to wait. The performance of these batteries is exceptional. I've been using them in various devices around my home - TV remotes, wireless keyboards, computer mice, gaming controllers, flashlights, and even my kids' toys. In every single application, they perform just as well as, if not better than, the premium alkaline batteries I used to buy. The voltage stays consistent throughout the discharge cycle, which means devices maintain optimal performance until the batteries need recharging. What really sets eneloop batteries apart is their ability to hold a charge for an extended period when not in use. According to the specifications, they retain 70% of their charge even after ten years of storage. I haven't tested that extreme timeframe obviously, but I can confirm that batteries I charged months ago and left sitting in a drawer still had plenty of power when I needed them. This is drastically different from some other rechargeable batteries I've tried in the past that would self-discharge within weeks. The longevity and recharge capability are where these batteries truly shine. Panasonic claims these can be recharged up to 2100 times, and while I'm nowhere near testing that limit yet, I've already recharged my set dozens of times without any noticeable degradation in performance. When you do the math, even if you only get a fraction of those recharge cycles, the cost savings compared to disposable batteries is substantial. Environmental impact was actually a major factor in my decision to switch to rechargeable batteries, and I feel good knowing I'm no longer contributing dozens of dead alkaline batteries to landfills every year. The reduction in waste is significant, and it's nice to make a choice that's both economically smart and environmentally responsible. The charging process is straightforward with any quality NiMH charger. I invested in a decent smart charger that shows individual battery status, and it pairs perfectly with these eneloop batteries. A full charge typically takes a few hours, and I've gotten into the habit of keeping a rotation so I always have fresh batteries ready to go. Overall, these Panasonic eneloop AAA batteries represent outstanding value and performance. They're perfect for anyone looking to reduce waste, save money in the long run, and ensure reliable power for their devices.
Review: Best rechargeable NimH batteries on the market. - Eneloop AAA NiMH (800 mAh) – Full Analysis & Matched Set Review Quick Verdict Excellent consistency, strong capacity well above rating, and plenty of usable cells for matched sets. These are exactly what you expect from Japanese-made Eneloop batteries. They’re reliable, predictable, and worth the premium. Test Overview * Charger: ISDT N8-Series Smart Charger * Charge/Discharge Rate: 0.4A * Cutoff Voltage: 0.9V * Temperature Range: 30°C – 33°C * Cells Tested: 12 Key Results * Rated Capacity: 800 mAh * Average Capacity: 1,052 mAh (131% of rating) * Average Internal Resistance: 184 mΩ * Highest Capacity: 1,209 mAh (Cell 1) * Lowest Capacity: 974 mAh (Cell 7) * Highest Resistance: 237 mΩ (Cell 7) Performance Breakdown 🟢 A-Tier (Best Matched Cells) Cells: 1, 9, 11, 12 * High capacity (1,175–1,209 mAh range) * Consistent performance * Ideal for high-drain devices and matched sets 👉 These are your “premium” cells—perfect for things like Xbox controllers, cameras, or anything sensitive to imbalance. 🟡 B-Tier (General Use) Cells: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 * Solid performance overall * Slightly lower capacity or higher resistance * Great for everyday devices 👉 Still very usable—for devices like remotes, flashlights, and general household use. 🔴 Weak / Isolate Cell: 7 * Lowest capacity (974 mAh) * Highest resistance (237 mΩ) 👉 Not ideal for pairing—best used solo or in low-drain devices. Consistency & Spread * Capacity Spread: ~235 mAh between best and worst * IR Spread: Moderate, with one clear outlier This is actually very typical for NiMH batteries, especially in larger packs. The important part is that most cells cluster well—which they do here. Matched Set Potential This is where these really shine: * Multiple strong A-tier cells allow for well-balanced matched sets * Enough mid-tier cells to build secondary sets without mixing extremes 👉 Big advantage if you rotate batteries in multi-cell devices. ✅ Key Takeaways ✔ Exceeds rated capacity significantly (131%) ✔ Strong top-tier cells for matching ✔ Good overall consistency for a 12-pack ✔ Only one weak outlier ✔ Excellent real-world usability across all tiers ⚠️ Cons * One noticeable outlier (Cell 7) * Moderate spread (normal, but worth noting) 🏁 Final Verdict If you’re looking for reliable AAA rechargeables with strong real-world performance, these Eneloops absolutely deliver. The ability to pull multiple high-performing matched cells from a single pack makes them especially valuable. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) Highly recommended for both enthusiasts and everyday use. All of the above isn’t strictly necessary unless you’re a battery nerd like me and you’re looking for maximum efficiency and performance. Eneloops have been the industry’s gold standard for many years now for a reason. “Made in Japan” absolutely makes a difference. They perform well and will provide many years of consistent performance. In my opinion they are worth the cost compared to the cheaper Chinese made options some of whom wildly overstate their capacity and fall well short of it.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How long does it take to fully charge these aa batteries with my eastshine s2 charger?**
A: The charger claims it will charge them in 2 hours, right on the product description page. Maths tell us the S2 fast charger charges @1A per hour and the batteries hold 2A. Protip, if you start answering a question with, "I don't know, but..." or, "I don't own one, but..." you have failed and most people ignore the rest of whatever you wrote.

**Q: Green Eneloop on NC-MQN06U charger, blinks green a couple of times then stops, no light. Battery charged no more than 100 times. Are they dead?**
A: Recommendations for eneloops and any rechargeable batteries. 1. Buy a good charger. 2. Don't quick charge, the extra heat will shorten the batteries life. 3. Replace them when they are low, don't leave them draining with the power on in devices. You will have two or three that won't charge without a paper clip jump (earlier post) . 4. Don't mix dead and charged batteries, the drained will be charged by the full ones the worst way to charge a battery.5. Dont mix newer generations of eneloops and older generations-it goes back to newer eneloops charging the older batteries. 6. Buy a good charger that monitors each battery throughout the charge! Yes, I said it twice.

**Q: can these batteries be used with cordless phones**
A: Yes. That's what I am using them for and the packet specifically mentions dect cordless phones. These batteries are almost identical to the original batteries that come with cordless phones that come with rechargeable AAA bateries except that these batteries have a much larger capacity (800mAh) letting them last longer between charges.

**Q: Do these batteries work on Panasonic cordless phone model KX-TG93 series?**
A: If the original batteries were NiMh then yes. If they were a different chemistry, such as nicad then it's not a good idea.
