Does the magnetic base only cause issues with other metal in the pocket when disconnected? Will it attract other metal even when attached?

It sticks to everthing but its rather weak when attached

Is the 2 second delay enough of a frustration to skip this light?

The delay only affects the power button, turning the normal modes on and off, and I would say it's closer to one second than two. It does not affect the instant turbo mode, which turns on and off almost instantly. So for me, it's not an annoyance at all.

Has anyone carried tip2 next to iphone and wallet in pocket. concerned that the useful, but powerful magnet may mess up credit card mag strip,phone?

Though magnets can affect your phone's compass and all functions that rely on the compass like your map apps, it's probably not strong enough to affect your phone. It may, however, corrupt your credit card mag strips. If it's a concern, consider putting a piece of tape over the mag that can be removed when you want to use the mag. I recommend gaffer's tape, because duct tape and electrical tape are too gummy when they heat up against the body.
