Review: Phenomenal, compact pellet grill. Why didn't I get this sooner? - I’ve been using the Traeger Pro 22 for a while now, and it has completely changed my backyard cooking game. So far, smoking meat is basically all I've used it for, and it has absolutely delivered. Here is a breakdown of why this grill is an absolute winner: * *Compact Yet Surprisingly Spacious:* It’s incredibly nice and compact. It doesn't dominate my entire patio space, yet the cooking capacity is impressive. It is easily large enough to fit three full racks of ribs—whether you are doing baby back or St. Louis style—and roughly 12 large chicken breasts all at once. * *Easy Assembly:* Out of the box, it was remarkably easy to install and mount everything together. The instructions were straightforward, and the parts fit perfectly without any headache. * *Great Hopper Capacity:* The pellet hopper is a really practical size. It perfectly fits just about exactly a half a bag of any standard Costco pellet bag (around 18-20 lbs), which is plenty of fuel for long cooks. * *Rock-Solid Stability:* Aside from the low-and-slow performance, the heavy-duty sawhorse chassis and wheels are incredibly sturdy. It feels robustly built and is super easy to roll around on the patio whenever I need to reposition it. * *Dead-On Temperature Control:* In my experience, the temperature control is quite accurate to within 10°F of the set point. It handles the regulation beautifully. When you switch it over to the "Smoke" option, it keeps the smoke right in that perfect sweet spot of roughly 180°F to 195°F. * *Fast Heat-Up:* It gets up to your target temperature really quickly—usually within 15 minutes of firing it up. * *Versatile Grilling Option:* Even though I mostly use it as a smoker, it even has a high-heat grill option. Whenever I want to throw some burgers on there, I just set the temperature to 450°F and it gives them a fantastic wood-fired flavor with a great sear. I highly recommend a liner as well to protect the base. If you want the unbeatable flavor of wood-fired food without the massive footprint or hassle of a giant rig, you honestly cannot go wrong with this machine. Highly recommended!
Review: Unbelievable quality any more than fair price this truly is a quality Grill - Until now, Traeger grills we're not a brand I was familiar with. But since my smoker died a few years ago from disintegration , I wasn't sure what I wanted to get another grill smoker. But I got sick and found out that I have a bit of a expiration date and remembered how much joy I got from cooking out on the grill, so I looked on desertcart. Now you can say it's a God thing, or Flash sale, or maybe both, but I found this model Pro 20 model, the one without the Wi-Fi probe, for an incredibly low price. In fact, the cover for the grill was over half of what I paid for the actual Grill . But I'm not complaining. Pro tip: don't do like I did, which was use the chips I had from my old smoker. I know that they suggested using the Traeger products, but I mistakenly thought they were just trying to sell their product. Unfortunately, when I used what I used on my previous smoker, it wasn't actually chips, they're more like shavings and I jammed the auger up something awful. It was to the point where I was watching YouTube videos to see how I have to take it apart. But then I ordered some Traeger pellets and thought I'd give it a try and see if they'd just push out my stuff that I put in the beginning. I removed most of that out by hand, then put the pellets from Traeger in. I had to re-cycle it more than a few times because the last thing I wanted to do was take this thing apart. I'm updating to add that their pellet delivery system is so efficient that the wood pellets last a long time! The photos show the delicious lamb kebabs that we'll be enjoying for supper this evening. I love that I can put the vegetables, the meats and the side dishes in all at once. And while I'm not following the Traeger recipe, that's only because I want to smoke everything and give it that smoky flavor. Anyway, I noticed the quality of the unit as I was assembling it. Their attention to detail is amazing. Anybody who has ever assembled anything before knows that most of the time Engineers pay no attention to whether the Allen wrench is going to bang up against the side so you can't turn it 360°, or they'll put a nut in some place where no matter what tool you have, it's a bear to get in. Not with this Traeger grills. It is clear that people actually use it have a lot of input and I ran into none of those issues. Looking at the quality of the metals that are involved, that's not cheap bendable crap steel, it doesn't wobble, it doesn't wiggle. And I love the copper addition in the front with its embossing. It just adds another layer of class on top of that black grill. I'm not sure what the word limit is, but trust me I could go on for a long time. Suffice it to say, in 70 plus years, I've had more than a few grills, and some of them very expensive and supposedly very good quality, but there isn't one of them that holds a candle to this Traeger grill that I got. And I didn't need to get the Wi-Fi probe, because my old smoker had four Wi-Fi probes and a control unit, which I kept when the grill bit the dust, so I've got Wi-Fi probes without paying the extra money. You won't regret buying this Grill. I almost forgot to mention how efficient the pellet delivery system is, in that it only delivers the amount of product needed at that specific time. I only use a fraction of smoker pellets compared to what I used to use in my old smoker. A single 20 lb bag less an incredible amount of time. I do like to use different Woods, and keeping a bunch of bags that size on the porch is prohibitive. What I've done is to purchase a storage bin combination French unit and put dividers in to carry a reasonable amount of each type of wood pellet I use. When I finish it, I will add photos of the completed bench storage unit.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can you cook a chicken standing up in it?**
A: Try taken the grate off, and put the chicken in a round cake pan on the drip guard near the side with the pail.

**Q: Is it self fed pellet?**
A: Yes, each and every pellet is carefully selected for its commitment and loyalty to the Traeger gods. The auger carries them to the fire pit but each one jumps in voluntarily, without question or delay. It's a beautiful thing ...

**Q: Reading customer reviews seems to be a fifty fifty chance of operating correctly and poor customer support. What can you say to me to make the purchas**
A: The absolute opposite of my experience after two years of Traeger use. So far the customer service is easily at least as good as any I've received from anyone (and I'm typically very demanding if not kind of grouchy.) The unit sits outdoors and I do cover it when it starts raining and I've had zero rust issues. I hate sounding like a shill but to date, the unit and the manufacturer have performed flawlessly.

**Q: is there a Rotissiere ?**
A: No, it is not a rotisserie however there is no need for one because of the convection within the grill- just elevate the product on a rack with a drip tray.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best Grilling Investment
*by S***E on September 10, 2026*

I bought this several years ago for my husband another than in the winter, he’s using this weekly and almost daily. Such a great smoker/grill for not only long-smoked food like briskets or ribs but also is very versatile for quick dinner items too like steaks and wings! It’s very durable and has been a staple for our household. You can make so much more than just meat on these and that’s part of what makes this grill so great. This size is nice too because it’s not too big and we’ve had it on a smaller patio where it fit just fine. It’s never had any issues since we bought it and we love using it.
