Technical Communication

I have tutored Technical Writing for several years and each course uses a different textbook. I have found this to be the best book I've used. The students find it helpful and easy to use. It is also a great resource for subjects such as resumes, cover letters, and general business communications.

My son needed this book and he received it quickly and it was in great condition! Condition was better than expected.

Five weeks into the semester, and I find this book to be easy to navigate and very well-written. The author is obviously well-versed in the subject matter, as it all has seemed relevant and applicable to real-world situations. The chapters are organized and thorough. For example, the chapter on correspondence is broken out into sections on writing letters, memos, emails and microblogs. It covers most any format one will use. Additionally, the samples that the author uses tend to be tightly interwoven with the subject at hand; that should be common sense, but some textbooks use samples that don't tie together all the aspects of the lesson. Sidebars highlight important pieces of the text. I am a returning student, out of the classroom (even virtually) for about 30 years, and I find this book readable and informative.

This is an evaluation copy, so may not match up with your course exactly. It sill had everything my instructor referenced, I just had to look around to find it. It worked for me, may not work for all.

I'm reviewing this as a rental, not the textbook itself. I rented this book through May 13th. On March 12th I received a message that my rental had expired. I tried to get in touch with Amazon - to no avail. I thought it was entirely I had made a mistake when purchasing, but when I looked at the original purchase, it showed May 13th as the day of return. Left no choice (my midterm was looming) I rented the book again, only to find it contained all my bookmarks, etc, from before. Basically I spent just as much as if I had bought a hard copy used, and I'm still not entirely sure they won't randomly yank the book back again, since there seems to be no recourse for that. As a textbook...it's an average textbook. The rental thing is not a great deal via Amazon, though.

Received exactly what was described by seller. It is only the book; no launch pad, no disc, no codes or any other bells & whistles. It is the latest version of the book by Mike Markel that was needed for my son's college class. Considering the cost of college books, this seller offered a fair price. The fair price and the faster ship time was the deciding factor.

I am having the worst time navigating my online textbook. I have other Kindle textbooks that work fantastically, but this textbook is giving me some issue. The pages seem to be off, as in there is a bar at the bottom that slides for more pages instead of the usual clicking for the next?? Also, I am used to being able to select a specific page, but that is not an option for this book. As a student, I don't want to waste valuable time learning how to use the textbook instead of learning the actual textbook content.

Well i bought this for an online class.. thats it idk i guess it was informative and plenty of information. Informed me on lots of technical information on writing. so yeah informational :D
