Royal Dragon Mug Blue

Okay, so I don't expect fine bone china.However, for $10, I also don't expect a dollar store cup!There is one big thing this cup has going for it - it is gorgeous.If you like dragons, or appreciate Chinese-themed artwork, you'll love the cup's looks.It arrived quickly and in good shape, but that's thanks to the seller's packaging.Now to the cup -The first thing noticed was that the lip of the cup had black gook all around it.We were able to scrape that off - I think it has to do with a glazing process of some sort, butnot really sure.The second thing you notice is how very delicate/thin the handle is!!There is plenty of room for fingers, but honestly, it is so very thin that it feels like it won'tsupport the cup, let alone a liquid.The bottom of the cup is rough, but again, cheap glazing process. You can smooth that out withan emery board, even though you shouldn't have to.The artwork on the cup is very pretty, with multiple shades of blue with gold metallic-looking accents.It was used just once. ONCE.While being washed out, once it had a warm liquid in it, the handle fell off!Yup - fell off.We also bought the green dragon cup, and the exact same thing happened, except the handle fell offwhile the cup was being washed - it lasted through the hot chocolate.What a big disappointment! So, we now have two pretty pencil holders or something, butnot a pretty cup for the morning coffee or hot chocolate in the evening. It was too cheapto survive actual use!!We've had cups from the dollar stores that are much sturdier than this one, so this is justpoor design and poor execution. Save yourself the money and disappointment, and get something else,unless you just want this to sit on a shelf and look pretty. That, it can probably handle,as long as you file the bottom with a nail file so it will sit evenly on a surface.
